It’s that time of year again; school supplies are abundant in stores, siblings are tired of each other and fighting, and the neighborhood pool has lost a lot of its magic and glimmer. It’s time to head back to school. Although this time of year can bring relief for many wary moms, it can also cause havoc on the family routine. Mornings can be rushed and kids may not be able to find what they need in the bathroom. Siblings can also fight over time in the bathroom. This leads to a whole new set of battles for moms and dads. Here are a few family tips on making your bathroom organization and routine back-to-school ready.
Time Schedules. As a family, sit down and decide how much time each family member will need in the bathroom on school mornings. Decide on a schedule that gives each person ample time to brush their teeth, wash their face, and do whatever else they need to do in this popular place in the home. If the students in your home need to be out the door at differing times, this step can be one of the easiest, as the times will be easier to stagger. If you have a bathroom with two sinks, or even just a large vanity, this can help as two family members can potentially be getting ready at the same time. If you do not have this luxury, it might be time to consider upgrading your bathroom to include it.
Organization. In order to keep everyone running on schedule, it’s important to make sure your bathroom is highly organized. Some families prefer that each member have a basket or a container of some sorts that holds all of their bathroom supplies; toothpaste, toothbrush, face wash, make up, etc. Others organize their bathrooms by categories. The goal is to have every family member knowing where their supplies are at, as not to slow down the schedule.
Back-to-school can be a stressful and hectic time for every member of the family. When we think of back-to-school we often think of school clothes and school supplies, but forget to think about organization and routines surrounding the bathroom. Taking time to follow these bathroom tips can make this time of a year a smoother transition for everyone.
